The English Room
An English interior is at once eclectic and harmonious: pieces reflecting craftsmanship of the ancient world rub shoulders with objects from the design schools of the new; elaborate decoration of the 18th century is juxtaposed with clean lines of modernism. The English realize that diversity in a room can be accommodated by unity in color and texture creating a freedom of form and flow of function. An English room brings out the character of its owner and immediately sets a convivial mood for guest and visitor. It brings out the best in us.
At the English Room, our aim is to allow the design and home making instinct in our clients to surface, matching their natural creativity with our skills and experience. We believe that every room can be inspiring and beautiful, and everyone deserves to live in surroundings that soothe, move and stimulate.
Our principal designers, Alexandra Stewart Carter and Elizabeth O'Leary, have had successful design careers in the UK, Europe and the United States. Fascinated by collections and interiors they have visited in Europe, the Near and Far East, and North and South America, Carter and O'Leary have developed an eye for originality matched only by their discipline in design skills and client consultation.
We have designed The English Accent collection of hand crafted pieces using European techniques, such as 18th century Venetian decoupage and 17th century English faux, and reverse (under glass), inlaid marble. Pieces range from wine coasters to the dining table on which they sit and waste paper baskets to lamp shades. We can even decorate the floors, walls and ceiling of our client's family, guest and reception rooms.
